omfg what are you even arguing? "oh her costume isnt very protective, it has holes" the MK9 clothes were more holes than clothing. They may protect just teh same but at least they dont look like they're gonna fall off after one hit. Hell the only reason they didnt in MK9 was to keep the game away from AO since their clothes did break in those places.

If you want skimpy outfits say it right, dont go "lol people are using weak arguments lolol"

I think a medium should be reached. Don't have Sonya in a thong, but at the same time don't completely cover her up. Her Deadly Alliance default is the best costume she's ever had. The perfect balance imo.

And as for realism, funk it. MKX takes itself way too seriously as is.

I actually liked Sonya's secondary in Deadly Alliance, minus the high heeled part but that's a minor complaint. I thought it was her best costume ever.

I've mentioned a couple of times in several threads I can appreciate both. Still, the ol' "this isn't practical/consistent within ___universe" comes across as dishonest by most people.

Recent titles notwithstanding, a lot of the Fire Emblem characters don't wear much armor outside of a plate that only covers chest and pauldrons. However, because they usually fully clothed, they are spared from much of the flak that skin-bearing characters get. I would take arguments about practically more seriously if they weren't used soley as leverage against skimpy costumes. Might was well say, "I don't like oversexualized designs", and be done with it.

If women wear thongs then men should wear speedos, for equality, and I don't want to see that.

Scantily-clad men don't really bother me either depending on the overall design. That being said, issues concerning gender equality make for a much stronger argument, in my opinion, thus I'm more receptive of them than half-assed "practicality" arguments that don't fly in a universe that is inconsistent in so many ways.

Let's just have every female be a 5'6 40-22-40 who fights in the nude. And let's replace their fatalities with short porn clips. Why not? It's just a game!

Actually, that's pretty much how I feel about certain female cosplayers. :-|

skimpy video game outfits translates to skimpy cosplay outfits, just sayin!

Sure, but when you make skimpy costumes in a game for the sole purposes of "cosplay," then you have a MGSV issue where all the SJW and feminists are complaining about it, and how women are "being objectified" or "not treated equally" and blah, blah, blah.
I don't have an issue with sexy costumes, but MK9 was borderline DOA, and I felt that that was pushing it a bit too much.
MKX has some sexy alt costumes for the female characters, but it's not in a way where it's borderline strip-club attire, like it was in MK9.
I've just about had it up to here with "feminists" (who are actually misandrists using the veil of feminism) in the gaming industry, who use any excuse to to push their agenda forward.

I Honestly dont mind skimpy Outfits (as an alt anyway) but I felt like they tried to hard in mk9 with a few them. They did a lot better in MKX when they didn't focus on it. So I think they should continue to try to stay away from the skimpy outfits.

Oh they most definitely tried too hard with 2011 and their costumes. What they got in the end was neither sexy nor appealing to look at. However, real life modelers and cosplayers made the costumes look okay, but they were still goofy.

The only decent looking female character in that game was Sindel. Her outfit was not half bad, neither was her secondary.

With Sonya as an exception, the costumes made sense from a lore standpoint.
Shao Kahn was a womanizing champion of pussy. So of course he would have his assassins dress as eye candy. Sindel was his bride, Shokan barely wear clothing at all and Scarlet absorbs blood in fights.

Blah, blah, blah? How much clearer an example would you need of objectification of women? Here's a grown man with the ability to create something amazing and yet he HAS to inject an almost childish level of sexism into it because it might give him a better chance of seeing boobies/butts irl.

Again, within context, I am a massive fan of boobs and butts, but if you're going to include them for the sake of it, you can not cry afterwards for being labelled sexist or objectifying. It's grade school levels of whining and it should have no place in the gaming industry.

Loving all the mock outrage over some skimpy outfits in a video game that consists of maiming and killing as its signature. Head rips? no problem! Side boobs! Gasp! good lord nooooo! Won't somebody please think about the children!

Funny how you decided to cherry-pick and leave out the rest of my quote, where I also said:

^^Those 1st 2 sentences pretty much say what your 2nd part said.
