PC version of Mortal Kombat 9...

If the PC version has a refined and highly effective netcode, all hell will break loose upon NRS from all the console gamers, considering how abysmal the console netcode was.

That will be funny as f.u.c.k.

What kinda worries me is that High Voltage Software have hardly developed anything for the PC, and their last PC title was in 2004. They better know their stuff.

HVS and NRS are good friends, I have no worries about bad port, I'm sure they pulled off release date from 14 june to 3 july to improve and made it great, steamworks is already a good sign, fact that both studios are pretty near to each other is a good sign too, devs from NRS can come to HVS to check their mistakes in porting and things like that.

After all, I dont bellive that WB want to throw their money to the port to studio, that would do bad job with it, nobody wants to play bad product, especially when it comes to fighting scene and multiplayer.

Tjey will not make a bad port. Especialy not bad netcode. Fighters are mainly for online nowdays and they know that they will lost lof of sales if the netcode is bad. We saw what happend to SFXT. It sold very bad due to the bad netcode that destroyed multiplayer. While SSF4 AE that has a great netcode sold very well.

You're right, but that didn't prevent NRS from releasing MK9 for consoles with a horrendous netcode. The game still sold very well, because the netcode was pretty much its only flaw.

But now people know about the netcode. Yes i am sure it will still well because we want to support the fighting genre on pc but if the netcode is good then it will sell a lot more than what it will sell if the netcode is bad. By the way has any of you started senting tweets to Boon about Injustice pc version?

I'd say no point asking about Injustice for PC just yet. We're getting MK Komplete Edition. We'll probably get Injustice Complete Edition when they release that, assuming MK PC does well.

Yes it's pretty clear what's the situation here: if MK9 sells well on PC we'll get Injustice. Anyway to be honest I'm not too excited about that game, I'm a diehard Batman fan but not in a fighting game. The mechanics seem interesting though.

Many of these finishing moves depict over-the-top instances of violence: impalement, bone-crushing body snaps, execution-style gunshots to the head; large blood-splatter effects occur during these sequences, staining characters' bodies and the ground. Several of these exaggerated finishing moves depict characters getting dismembered, ripped or sliced in half, stabbed, set on fire, or set to explode. During the course of the game, female characters sometimes wear revealing outfits that expose large amounts of cleavage

YEAH......sounds like my kind of game !!!!! :boink:

Don't have any experience with Steam whatsoever - how does pre-purchase work exactly? You pay and download the game immediately? And need a special code to activate it on release day? I assume they won't wait till release date to grant access to the game itself, so that all PC fans would suck all the bandwidth downloading close to what will probably be ~ 10 gigs of data...

Steam is totally fine.
You create an account with an E-Mailadress. Purchase the game with your account data and creditentials and your done.
The prepurchase depents on the publisher. Normaly if there is a prepurchase the game is available for download almost immediatly. The missing files or changed and update files get updated and unlocked on release. Where ever you are you can just logon to your account and enjoy your games. I recommend creating an account before you purchase, there are a bunch of games on steam that are free 2 play already, and you get some how used to the GUI. If you like feel free to add me ( send me an PM )

Mortal Kombat still misses BBFC, PEGI and the Aussierating so unless that is done there won't be a prepurchase.

All seems good, I just hope they keep the local Co-op. Two players on one PC going online in a tag team match. Also I dont think we should worry about sales if the port is good, Alan's Wake released 2 years later to and it did pretty darn good. They made their money back on the port for 48 hours on steam, hope MK9 can outdo that.

Yes it will sell well I'm also certain of that. New Mortal Kombat after 15 years and it's the highest rated game in the series? Everyone and their mothers will buy that. As soon as the pre-order pops up on the store page of Steam it will just blow up.

The thing that really differentiates MK from all the other fighting games is the fact a lot of casual gamers buy it because they just want to do the fatalities or in the case of MK9 play the story mode.
