I'm taking a break form Scorpion, and working on Johnny Cage now.

hello bleed, you are the master of the universe working with this 3d models, I just love the way scorpion looks and jhonny cage is looking amazing too, I would like you to check my liu kang and tell me what would you change, cause since I'm new using zbrush I think this is all I can do, if you tell me what to do maybe I can keep on with this guy, I would like to finish it but I don't know how.

don't look at the hair cause I haven't work on it.

Or instead of telling them to search the entire thread which is HUGE make a FAQ that can be referred to.

Thats a great idea. You have been here since the beginning, maybe you wouldn't mind creating a FAQ so that Bleed, myself and others can focus on the building the game?
 
On Liu Kang, it's looking pretty cool so far, but I have some critiques. The abs are too wide and too sharp, he's not flexing like that normally. Even in that picture, it's not as sharp as on your model. I would tone it down a little or go 50/50 between relaxed and flexed.

He looks too wide/short, I think the sprites are throwing you off with that. They probably have some distortion, I had the same problem with Cage when tracing the sprites. I ended up finding some random pictures of other people to have a better reference, 7.5 heads tall.

His pectorals could be more inflated.


The pants have too many wrinkles and comes off looking like the wrong fabric. I think it was sweat pants, you can see him in costume here.

The shoulders could use a little fiber detail. If you sculpt on them in the direction of the muscle fibers, you'll get some of that look. Same with any muscle, like the pecs, triceps, forearms...

Check the muscle placement, overlay an anatomy drawing over the mesh to see how it matches up.


Something else, is the detail on the pans looks kind of muddy. I think you need to play around with the brush modifiers, to give you a cleaner result. Change the shape of the fall off curve, add an auto smooth, maybe use the elastic option.
 
Hi calactyte, is looking good! the part i care a bit is the hands in the last frame, still blurred. maybe change the last frame with one without motion blur will fix this. good job :)

Everything is looking amazing, a quick question though... Will Reptile jump down at random matches and give clues on how to find him? Just like the original
 
Hey, i got another quick question to shoot at ya. Sometimes when i verse reptile he turns red, like he was ermac or something. Would this glitch also be in this..? Thanks
 
For those I would not like them in, because they look too buggy.

The freezing while getting up is easy to duplicate, because it's just a basic animation stuck on a certain frame. You could finish the animation and freeze in the standing frame.

If it causes a change with the collision, then it's more of a reason to keep it in.


Glitching the palette is another thing, and you have to do extra work to make an ugly bug. I would skip this one at least.

Well i'm sorry if it doesn't exist, i heard ALOT of people talk about it, and in MK9 reptile even turns red (rarely) in the secret battle.

If you were able to do this in MK1 you will probably be able to do this our game since that is what we are shooting for here.

Ok, yeah I've done it a couple time's in the real game, just have to time it right. Will there be the "missed" fatality? It's where you trip your opponent and quickly type in the fatality input and Cage will do and uppercut before they get up and do his win pose while the opponent then stands up becomes dizzy. You still get Fatality points though.
