Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Awesome, let me suggest some movement in the torso area to increase realism (I mean slight movement because he doesn't look "human" with a wooden torso), also, there is too much movement in one arm comparing it to the other one, I would recommend you to make both hands / arms move about the same... just an idea because I still think this animation could be improved, and you have a challenge because you're working with one sprite standing. Creative freedom!

It's looking much better, but it does still need some adjustment.

The loop on the pelvis I guess, looks like there is a fall off causing it to slow at the loop point. Maybe you can fix it with the curves, or copy the first frame, and put it past that loop point.

If I'm having trouble looping an animation because of something like this, I'll copy part of or the entire animation and paste it on the end.

That way you have a continuous curve, instead of having to match the end point with the start again.

The movement back and forward seems too much, it would seem more natural if he was bobbing up and down more than back and forward.

His right arm looks too stiff, and moves too far up and down like Carz said. The motion of his left arm looks more realistic.

Aside from that, I would suggest acting out the moves your self and try to feel what's off about it.

It's almost there

calactyte: you should rotate his head a little bit to the screen, so we could have a better look at his face

i like mk1, but recreating the same bugs sounds like a terrible idea... (except for the 2 heads fatality) you can have a game thats faithful to the original without having the same glitches.

im a fan of this project, keep up the great work!

Ok list of Fixes:

Bleed you were right about the pelvis. I smoothed the fall-off and made him bounce more up and down rather than back and forth. Looks pretty smooth to me now.

Turned his head slightly toward the camera. Animated his traps and shoulders. Reduced forearm movement of the right arm. Added wrist movement to both arms and synched movement together so that right and left arms move about the same.

Fixed his skirt shape a bit. Fixed his belt shape a bit and brightened up the whole costume a little more.

Let me know if you think it is good to go and I'll move on.

Okay, it's looking way better now... but I need to ask: if he going to be playable?
a) if not, then I think you're getting close to what could be the final result and it's looking great.
b) if yes, you should really look at the model because the belt and the chest need some more work.

Nice work Cal, I agree that looks much better. Unless you feel like messing with it any more, I think it's good enough to move on.

Not a playable character, at least not yet.

Then I think you should not pay too much attention to the character, because he is only the boss and people wont be playing arcade mode that much, in adition, he morphs... it's looking pretty good so far man, not as good as Scorpion/Cage tho, that was my concern, but as a final boss I think he rocks because he really resembles the original one.

hello, sorry I've been missing for a while, Believe me... I've been so busy, I've updated the model with the real proportions, it's true, he was too short, also i fixed his pants and abs, hope to be closer to the real liu kang, as soon as posible I'll post something else

Unfortunately this represents the best of my modeling/animation/material creation/ and texture creation skills at this juncture. That isn't as good at what Bleed can do. But Bleed is only one person and he can't very well build and animate the entire cast.

hello, I got some time to work on this guy, started polypaint, just throwing some colors

OK so here is what needs adjustment:

-He may be too short. (depends on the camera angle)

-His hands are out of proportion and are too big.

-He shoulders are too massive.

-His arms in general are too thick.

-His forearms are way too thick.

I'd say you've got his torso, through feet down perfect. His shoes should be white instead of gray. LOVE the paint work you've done.

thanks for your comments calactyte, I'll fix it as soon as possible... I'm glad you liked the painting, i found a really nice skin matcap so I just let do the magic :bird:

Holy cow, I just learned how to use Skin Morph in 3ds Max. Bleed do you use this? If not I'll post a quick tutorial on how to use it. It fixes every problem I've ever had with rigging.

I know how to use it but if someone else can use the info, great. I use it for problem areas, biceps, nees and stuff like that, It's nice.

When are you planning to finish this project of updating MK??? Are you going to post any videos to YouTube when the project is finished?

If I tell you how far away that is, it will only discourage you. But I can say that when it is finished it'll be so incredibly awesome you'll want to play it over and over again.
