Ermac Thread - "We are Many, You are but One!"

Going back to the elbow slam, you can hold UP to delay it for up to 5 seconds I think to mess w/ opponent's timing... though the move is pretty useless imo

You have to hold Block for that, anyway the move is useless like you said, when i get home ill add new info, i have some tactics against jumpers, spammers and teleporters that might be useful.

That move is not useless if used at the right moment.
It can be used to trick the opponent, thanks to bmsirch we know that you can cancel it to teleport or force blast.
I don't know if someone posted this before, but the midscreen combo tyler performs in this video is not so hard to pull off and does EXTREME damage, I sometimes use it playing against my friends offline.

Hey. I've been taking Ermac on since day one in practice mode and have beat up to Hard Ladder with him. First I wanted Scorps as my main but got bored with him, I had two other mains- Kung Lao and Ermac, and I must say Ermac is the most fun to play with and one of the best characters in the game.

First off, 'Mac is not a noob character. His combos are slower than Scorpions and he doesn't have the range of Noob. He also isn't Smoke, being that he isn't all about special move spamming. With Ermac, the best route is to get his combos (non-special move combos) down until you can pull them off as easily as you can do an uppercut, and then learn the timing for the teleport, force push, and force lift. Once you have those down, you can top off some combos with his aerial forceball (though this is a move best suited for deflecting air-throws), and his air slam (good for taunting, good against non-teleporters).

Here are some combos that work great:

JPunch, X, Sqr, ForceLift, JPunch, Forceport, dash, Tri, Tri, Forcelift | (uppercut, rh kick, or new combo)
JPunch, X, Sqr, ForceLift, JPunch, Forceport, Fwd+Cir (Kick)
JPunch, X, Sqr, ForceLift, JPunch, Forceport, FwSqr, Tr, BkSqr
JPunch, X, Sqr, ForceLift, JPunch, Forceport, Force Push (Enhanced ForcePush is even better)

Ultimately it's about keeping this pressure on them. Ermac is not as easy as the other ninjas to get down, but he's a VERY good character.

Thx for the combos but they are practically the same i posted. you just changed "B+1,1,4" with "3,1" and "B+1,1,4" does more damage. The purpose of the thread is give the players the combos, then they can modify 1 or 2 moves, but if I post all the variations of every combo (maybe it changed only one punch) the post will be very long and with no sense. But thanx i appreciate that people tries to help :)

Initially, I thought Ermac was not so good, but then when I practiced with him, I was blown away!

I do not consider him the best character in the game, he has lots of flaws, but overall, his combos are among the best. Those last combos posted are in my opinion the basic combos you can do with Ermac in order to kill some asses. More complicated combos come from those.

I generally don't do long combos in a real match when there's so much andrenaline (I generally do 6-8 combos, or 10 if the oponnent doesn't block), but Ermac has so much combo potential that we'd have to make a huge list for him.

My opinion about Ermac: Ermac is mainly a mid range character for me. I noticed he is not as good at close range: if your telekinetic moves (slam or force push) are blocked close range, they're so easily punishable, you get wide opened to counter-attacks from your oponnents. That to me is Ermac's weakest point, simply because all Ermac's good combos involve his telekinetic specials. Another thing I noticed - correct me if I am wrong - is that Ermac's teleport is a bit slower to start than Scorpion's and Smoke's, that can be deadly in a real match. Ermac is also not really much of a punch/kick combo-based character compared to others in the game: most of his combos work due to the insane combination of his specials and enhanced special moves, and because his specials when blocked can left you so opened to counter-attacks, sometimes it can get a little frustrating.

However, Ermac is all about timing. If you do the right timing and the right combination of bottoms, consider yourself a winner. He's not a fast character in the same vein of Kung Lao, but he can definately go insane with his teleport.

About his special moves:
- Telekinetic slam: fantastic, enhanced telekinetic slam even better!
- Push force: fantastic, enhanced push force equally good, but just as replacement for more % of damage.
- Green ball (both normal and enhanced): it is okay, I barely use it, simply because I don't feel Ermac is that good in long range. He is a teleporter, so I'm not going to waste time being spamming projectiles (for that we already have Sindel).

However his green ball when used in the air proves to be quite useful for combos, I use it a lot when I feel I cannot do more complex combos.

- Levitation = useless, it doesn't even come to my mind using it. Again, it leaves Ermac wide opened to attacks, specially if you're opponent is a spammer or a teleporter. I am still yet to see a situation safe enough to use this move.
- Teleport: he's a teleporter, use it!

Not sure if you guys agree with my opinion, Ermac just rocks, definately high-tier for me.

See the tactics sub-spoiler in the post it has a good use for the levitation.

ERMAC GOT NERFED!!! LOL! Im noticing A LOT of frustrated Ermac players online because their 1 combo they use over and over and over again isnt working. If you do a levitation after a teleport the opponent doesn't bounce back up anymore and thus you cant do the two punches and levitation blast anymore

Can you explain it a bit more with the real moves names? because I dont understand so well what combos we are not able to do anymore. So sad...

What do you call levitation?

So one combo I usually saw A LOT of players use was Force Lift, Jump Punch, Force Port, Force Lift, punch, punch, Force Push...

However a Force lift AFTER a Force Port now wont bounce the opponent back up in the air. You Force Lift them and they stay on the ground instead of bouncing back up so the last 3 or so moves in the combo can no longer be used

Thx +rep
Well thats not so bad, i never do force push after force port i only use force push after it so im ok with it :)

EDIT: Im an expert with Ermac (i proclam myself lol) and is very difficult to force lift the rival after a jump kick+force port, maybe the players you fighted cannot do it either, i can only do it once in like 5 or 6 attemps...

Err... you cannot do 2 Force Lifts in the same combo. I don't think it was ever possible.

The BnB is (2,2)Force lift, jump kick,teleport,dash,2,2,force push

This, even on day one, if you used 2 force lifts in one combos the opponent would not bounce on the second one :P The developers I think are extra careful of things like that

yeah im sure of that too and you cannot freeze a person twice in the same combo with SZ, or spear a person twice in the same combo with Scorpion.

A lot of great info here. Of all the combos mentioned here which ones are workable in an online match? I'm struggling to land certain combos online that work really well offline.

The one I posted above works fairly well, but you have to get used to the delay and nail the timing. Offline you can poke my eyes out and tie my arms behind my back and I still wouldn't drop an Ermac combo. Online is a different story.
