We have got to crack the code for the WQ in the krypt!!!?

I realise that you would have to put the WQ there, I'm heading into programing. I still can't help but think that maybe they had a problem with the scrolling. And that it changed all the leters on the coffins. But who knows. I checked the credits, and I didn't find one person with the initials WQ. I can't think of a character or a round that has WQ related to it in anyway. And someone already said what was in the coffin WQ in Deadly Alliance. He said there were Onyx coins or something... 45 of them I think, i forget. An idea I just got, and will check soon, would to be to look for a kofin that has that many koins to buy it. Buy it again once you have every koffin and see what happens. It could be a far-feched idea I know, but oh well.

thats a good idea, i look at the credits also....the only thing i saw was some guy with 3 names that started with W C J or something..... if you put C and J together it could look like a Q. LOL I dunno...let us know how rebuying noob smoke does... i thought it looked like platinum, 156. Try unlocking this one again...

HP - 156 Platinum Koins - PA: Sindel Character Study

or there are gates to the graveyard, maybe you can hit a button once all are bought, to get to another secret graveyard.....just giving some ideas.

I have noticed a pattern. I dont' know if this is relevent to breaking the WQ thing, but when you buy a koffing a character in the background is running into, the characters tend to run further down. Never once have I seen a character run down -- and usually they are in your sight. I just spend 15 minutes following characters around, getting lost and buying koffins etc, but to no avail. Just reporting what I see.

I think the reason they put this in the game was to start a thread like this. We all know that Boon and company like messing with us. There could be something to it, but there's a decent chance that there isn't.

ok, ive opened every koffin and i have found no WQ

**edit** nvm i see it
I have left my krypt sceen set foe three hours and I get nothing new. I think the WQ is away Ed can laugh at us!!

WQ------mysterious keys-----fujin and strykers name scrolling hmmm means something to me dont know exactly what but there is something to it. Maybe connected with MKDA far as wq is concerned....Also really tempting gate at the end of the graveyard.......All the fancy headstones maybe you take letters from the headstones and they spellout something heh....you never know....I just remember playing MK 2 when every one thought it was all unlocked and all of a sudden shang tsung morphs into kintaro and punches you in half lol.....I remember the forever freeze sub zero glitch trick what ever. But i cant help but think UVWXYZ is missing from krypt...mysterious keys anyone?

I don't have the game, but it sounds like it might be a programming mistake. Could anyone take a snap shot of this coffin? I've been doing programming (application programming but still) for a few years now, so I'm a little up to par on whether something was intentional or just a mistake. I'm leaning towards mistake/glitch here because sometimes you can go through walls or see through walls in video games, but that doesn't mean you found a secret or that it was done intentionally.

Another possibility is they might have just copied and pasted the MKDA krypt coding to this krypt and just changed everything in the coffins instead of starting from scratch. So they might have accidentally not deleted coffin WQ or left some of coffin WQ's 'presence' code in without realizing it, which would make it visible when you look in that direction at certain angles.

Or it might be the biggest secret in MK history like all the characters jumping out of the coffin and throwing a disco party! Uh, yeah...

How about we start a collection to buy you the game?

Haha, I'll get it sooner or later. I've got to get a PS2 or Xbox first before I get MKD, and I'm a little lazy so it will probably be later when I get the game. :(

if I can find normal AV connectors for my PS2 I can take a snapshot.I'll work on it tommorow.right now I'm using my Monster brand component video connection with my PS2 and my DVD player/recorder only has a normal AV input on it.

No way. It was definitely intentional. It may not do anything (since Boon like to mess with us), but still, I find it hard to believe that this would be a glitch or something they didn't mean to put in. If it was, then the same thing most likely would have appeared in the MKDA krypt.

It's hard to take a picture of it, though, because you have to be moving to see it.

This "WQ" coffin could be a programming optiimization. I have not seen it myself yet, but from the description here it sounds as though the closest headstones change to a generic "WQ" when you are going at top speed, while the headstones which are furthest away retain their "real" lettering and value amounts.

One effective way to make something look like it's going really fast is to add motion blur to the object. This is a CPU intensive operation, as it requires effectively taking multiple frames and merging them into a single frame of animation (i.e. motion blur at 30fps could require 150fps worth of computational tasks).

Since this process is so expensive, it is much easier, when possible, to create a "canned" motion blur sequence, load it up and repeat as necessary.

In this instance, when you "fly" over the krypts, you may be viewing two distinct sets of data: 1) the actual krypt headstones in the distance as they come closer to the camera, 2), when they reach a certain point, are relpaced with the canned motion blur sequence of koffin "WQ".

Just a thought.

What it looks like

Being a programmer myself, here's what I think it is (and I think its on purpose):

Looks like when a koffin is not in the viewing area, they all have the letters WQ, but when the koffin comes into view, it changes to the letter it's supposed to have. When scrolling through the krypt, you are viewing the koffins faster than they can change to their own real values. This would have to be purposeful.. Boon and Co. love giving things for people to talk about. If any of you are thinking your going to get any straight answers out of them on the Fight Night chat, think again. I've talked to them too many times and they are very good about only telling you enough to get you to go crazy on something. Look at |{ombat and his Reiko is Shao Kahn page.... :P

Here is a shot of the WQ koffin... again it sounds like exactly what Mailtor suggested just a place holder for a koffin. As you can see it at the current and side koffin.
