Well yea that's a great concept but I think your specifics are a little off. For one Smoke would be strong against physical attacks since a physical blow can't really hurt his smokey form like it would organs. The Sub-Zero thing is a little more believable but it just seems like too much of a dissadvantage.

Another way to make a balanced game is make everybody play similarly, but that's what they've been doing now isn't it? Either way I like the idea like I said I just think you REALLY have to put a lot of thought into the unique abilities of each character so you don't make gameplay unbalanced you know? You might do it without realizing. Also for your Sub-Zero idea to work you would need to eliminate the damage downgrade for attacking frozen opponents.

Strengths And Weaknesses Wouldnt Work For MK Cause This Game Is Unique And The Idea Of Strength And Weakness To Balence A Character Is Not Unique. I Mean This Isnt No Pokemon Dude, Fire Good Against Ice...Smoke Good Against Solid. MK Is Known For Every Character Bein Strong In There Own Way But Balanced With All The Others. If MK Characters Were Weak Or Weak Against Something Then They Wouldnt Be An MK Character. I Mean Wouldnt You Think It Would Suck To Be A Character An Reach A Certain Character In Arcade An They Be Strong And Your Character Weak Against Them An Lose Everytime? In MK Every Character Has Some What Of A Balance. Every1 Is Strong. From Meat To Onaga They Are All Equals An Can Die Or Win Like All The Rest. An Thats How It Is And Gonna Be. Thats MK Dude.

Interesting concept you have there. It would take some work but if it could be pulled off properly, it would be a good addition to the game.

Actually, this could make battles more predictable.

See, lets say player 1 picks Sub-Zero, Player 2 would see this and be able to choose a character that can beat Sub-Zero easily, like, anyone with a fireball.

Doesn't that one already exist in the real game? The big guys DO cause more damage, and Liu Kang IS faster and more agile.

I think this would cause more jeers from fans than cheers. It'd end up being just like pokemon "Subzero isn't good against so-and-so, so i must use this guy...he will be better because the advantages are in my favor"

it's much better when the outcome relies on the players actual skills, rather than the advantages or disadvantages of the character they chose to play with.

I've been reading this thread specifically and I think Upriser was trying to say is that like the weapons in Soul Calibur series with the strength and weaknesses when wielding it, he's trying to give ideas for MK like for examplw with Scorpion: when he takes damage, the damage done when he attacks increases because of his rage, but the weakness is that his when blocking, the damage will increase. For Kai: he has good speed and quick moves, but due to lack of experience in lot of battles, he is less versatile, meaning the damage done to him is more than normal. I'm not exactly sure, but this is what he's trying to do.
