So in Umk3 who was considered Overpowered, Underpowered, or just an all rounded char?

I never played Umk3 before ( when it was on Xbawx live) but i always wondered who is considered the "Nooby" Characters or which one is the "Underpowered" Characters?

now this isn't so i can choose what people consider the best character (i only play Cyrax,Shang Tsung, and sometimes Liu Kang) Just curious as i saw a thread saying how easy it is to get combos with Smoke.
 
Its always been Kabal and Smoke as the top tier characters.

Underpowered are Sheeva and medium level is like Scorpion.

It's all with what you do with it dude. I personally have beaten top tier players with Sheeva. She's got some wicked combos if you ask me.

i would never consider sheeva underpowered. her 7 hit combo is one of the hardest hitting in the game.

IMO from playing in the arcades for years, sektor is one of the least used, especially since before umk3 during mk3 he didnt have a pop up combo. sub-zero was neutred down like a mo-fo after mk3, specifically his clone ball usage.

i could rant on and on about this and go on a million tangents. ill just say kitana is extremely underpowered as far as her combo strenght goes, but because her fan is so quick and is a run-in to a lot of short combos shes underused but really good. same with reptile. sektor to me gets the short end of the stick, unless you are real strategic with his homing missles

Brute strength is useless if you can't get it to connect, and that's why characters like Sheeva is low on the list. Yes, when she hits, she hits extremely hard, but she's also really hard to make a connection with. Her size makes for a big target, too.
 
UMK3 is a pretty decent balanced MK game.

The ONLY character who you could argue is overpowered is Kabal. But the top 10-12 are very good.

Sheeva is bottom tier. She is awful.

Shang is the worst, down there with him is Mileena, Kang, Classic Sub & Sektor.

IMO if they didnt screw with Mileena's sai toss height, she would be so much better. I still wreck people online with her though.

Sheeva is definitely NOT underpowered! I can pull off her 7 hit combo with my eyes closed! LOL! She is the STRONGEST character in the game I think!

Shang Tsung is considered bad? even with the ability to change into anyone? weird. such an odd game to learn.

i sorta figured classic Sub zero was bad, as he only had one move that the other sub zero didnt. which isnt used too often, in vids ive seen.

Also thanks for the link, i was looking for a good guide website for umk3

Definitely my "UMADBRO?" character.

I would like to say cyber smoke though

for sure i know mk2 top tier= jax, mk1 top tier = sonya

I use that kombo too!

Just a few days ago I had a guy message me over X-box live giving me props, saying he never thought he'd live to see the day he faced a legit Classic Sub-Zero haha.

I don't really pay attention to tiers. I play who I like lore-wise and gameplay wise. And if I end up kicking your ass with a "low tiered" character because of it, all the better. ;)

For UMK3 I'd say I'm pretty good with Classic Sub-Zero, Reptile, Sindel, Stryker, Scorpion, and Human/Cyborg Smoke.

I've been trying to get good with Mileena and Sektor though.
 
If you're just starting out Robot Smoke is very easy to get used to, harder to use against good players. But honestly the best idea is to just get good at Kabal. If you can get the spin dash down you'll beat 99% of the people who don't know how to bait it or just simply cant. Just my 2 cents.
 
Sheeva, Kung Lao, Lui Kang, Jax, and Cyrax have the BIGGEST combos in the game! Master their 7-8 hits, and you will be KING! I already main with Sheeva, Cyrax and Lui Kang and Kung Lao!
