Shang Tsung transform ability

Back in the day Shang Tsung was my main do to the fact he could transform to anyone in the game and his soul steal fatality MK2...I loved turning into another person I could dominate with and mixed it up on my opponent but why is this ability not in MK9

Probably because in MK2 he only needed 11 transformation inputs, their were only 12 playable fighters. If he had that MK9 he would have too many special inputs, and DLC characters would only farther complicate things. (besides you really want to be playing against that one kinda noobish friend who wants to constantly check the move list.
Woulda been cool if he had the transformation power, impractical but still pretty badass
 
i like it better this way... if he could transform into anyone anytime, imagine all the noobs choosing him, just to keep transforming into scorpion, then noob, then ermac, etc in a cycle and spamming... this way hes more of a pro player. and what better way to beat ur opponent than beating them with their own player :P
 
I can understand that but hell that what Shang was about back in the day I guess it would be to much trouble for some people

they should at least let u turn into ur opponent and perform there fatality on them, but it would be hella spammers spamming their azzes off
 
Load times are a big factor, I'm sure. If the game had half the roster is does, they might've been able to make it work for all of the characters.

I DO think they should give us a way to change into 3 characters like the CPU Shang can.
 
The game will take a while loading in the versus screen if he would have all the transformations. Thats why they make the Shang Tsung boss able to transform only in 3 other characters during the fight, so the fight loads faster, this 3 characters are selected randomly.

Also i never cared for shag tsung, he seems lame to me, I prefer to play with the original character rather than selecting Shang Tsung just to transform into other characters,
 
He has moves that are good and morphing would make him even better...it would be cool if we could at least get 3 like the computer
 
I personaly like it the way it is, if he could transform into anyone the damage boost would be taken out and that's the best part of soul steal for me.

2. Balance issues.

I like Shang Tsung the way he is now, a character that is played mostly as his own rather than being known as the guy that you can transform into anyone with. He is more of an individual now than he was in MK2, IMO.

Yeah, Shang Tsung is a pretty badass zoning character in his own right in this game. His soul steal ability is just icing on the cake, honestly. He keeps you on your toes, keeps you where he wants you and then he copies your moves and deals more damage with them then you're able to. Sounds like a badass lol.
