Re: TylerLantern's new Kitana Combo Videos

Before I go into a rant, all I have to say is that anyone who says they are "annoyed" by these combos, or anyone who hates at all for that matter just hates because they can not do what TylerLantern does. Now to the rant...

How is this combo "not valid"? Because you say it is? Its definately "valid". That would be like someone saying every high damage combo could eventually be nerfed, so no combos are valid. Thats stupid lol. And to those who are saying "spam, spam, spam" are obviously scrub players. "Spam" is an excuse. Anyone who plays to win uses whatever they have to use to win. If someone can not get around a certain move or a combo, then thats thier problem and they need a better defense. You never hear anyone saying "You spammed me!" when they win a match. That shows is just an excuse that scrubs use when they can not get around a series of moves or combos. Either learn how to be a good defensive player or be a scrub and cry "SPAM" every time you lose. Seriously, learn how to PLAY TO WIN!

Some of you are such haters lol. I think its hilarious that some of you trash talk TylerLantern for his videos, while at the same time learning from them. Some of you even say, "Well I bet I could come up with high damaging combos if I tried, its nothing special", but the point is, your not coming up with high damage combos. TylerLantern is. One guy says these combo videos are annoying and you don't like the guy because he posts videos to help the MK community better learn how to become better players, whether you take away from the videos a combo starter, a way to link a combo, a combo ender, or whatever it may be, you learn SOMETHING from these videos that you did not know before and you trash the person who is trying to help the scrub players like you. I seriously sense a little bit of jealousy in the tone of some of these posts. This guy figures out stuff that no one else thinks of, and scrubs try to trash him. If you don't like his videos, don't watch them, its pretty simple.

As for the guys saying he probably can not do stuff like that online, you are also wrong. I played TylerLantern before PSN went down and he was laying down 40% - 50% combos like it was simple, even in lag.

Lastly, those combo can DEFINATELY be done against other characters besides Sheeva, and here is proof in this 95% damage Kitana and Nightwolf tag team combo.

This guy is the best MK player around, hands down.

very good but opponent not hit BACK.

Sigh.. The opponent can't hit back. That is the definition of a combo. All of the hits are done when the opponent is in the air or in a recovery frame.

I don't know why people trash people who do combos on the AI. If the initial hit isn't blocked, there is absolutely no difference whether combos are done on the AI or on a human opponent. People keep screaming "yeah but combo breaker!" You honestly think you can use a combo breaker as often as I can initiate a combo? Using combo breakers take 2 bars of special. Initiating a combo takes one simple hit. Go ahead, use your combo breaker. That'll put you at 2 bars of a disadvantage and in a state of paranoid blocking for the rest of the round.

And LoseifyYou, respectable rant. But don't get too angry by the stuff people post on these forums.

Re: TylerLantern's new Kitana Combo Videos

Whether the combos are workable in a real match or not, I find these videos entertaining and respect the timing and coordination that goes into performing them.

Re: TylerLantern's new Kitana Combo Videos

Besides, the high level combo exhibitions can be used the way I use them: modify them to be simpler so you can use them.

Re: TylerLantern's new Kitana Combo Videos

The OP wasn't very impressive; it was just the same loop over and over.

This, however;

Was.

Now, before I get called a Scrub, let me explain: I was not impressed by the moves he did in those first videos because, quite frankly, it was the same thing over and over again with little to no variation; yeah sure, the damage was impressive, but it just wasn't.... fun.

Perhaps a little history would be appropriate: In ancient Rome, the best gladiators were not the ones who killed quickly, the best gladiators were the ones who made it fun to watch; they played with their victims a little, made it enjoyable to watch. Because that's why people watched the Gladiator Fights in the Colloseum; entertainment. It's not entertaining to see everyone killed quick, but bloodily.

This dude, he has the ability to kill; does he have the ability to entertain?

Re: TylerLantern's new Kitana Combo Videos

Why can't people just take combo videos for what they are? Creative, entertaining, and a tutorial of sort. All I see in the comment sections is "you can't do this against a real person", or "that's what breakers are for"...blah, blah, blah. Just enjoy the damn game.

Re: TylerLantern's new Kitana Combo Videos

I do respect what the guy does. I mean, not everyone can think of that shit. BUT.. Imo, he's a way too over protective of his videos. They're ALL posted to his youtube account which is obviously TylerLantern. But then it says his name before the combo and AFTER the combo. On top of all of that he has his watermark there in the bottom left too. Is he honestly that afraid that someone is going to take credit for a COMBO in a VIDEOGAME? It's a bit silly. But he is a major combo machine, and I can't help but respect that.

...... what are you talking about?

Re: TylerLantern's new Kitana Combo Videos

Those combos doesn't scare, firstly because they can't be applied on a real fight.

Besides he's using infinite meter, so what's the point, nothing out the extraordinary.

Thanks for the history lesson, but this isn't a Roman gladiator match. Fighting games do not reward people for having entertaining styles or combos. They reward players who can attack and defend effectively enough to win a match. Playing to win is not the same as playing to entertain.

I agree. I enjoy the more practical combos. Either way, nice video.

I was watching him; he only used an Enhanced move 3 times; those comboes is fully doable in a game.

But it is always more fun to watch entertaining styles and comboes. Fun is what is important.

While it is never fun to get juggled, everyone gives higher respect points to those who can mix up their moves, even the guy who gets juggled. Why? Because it's fun to watch. Any Noob (Both Character AND player) can spam one move over for victory (I've done it, beleive me), but it takes alot more skill to memorize and alternate between moves.

it's not only about if it's doable because of the bar. You have to remember other people can do combos too. Breakers take up two of your bars, and are very important. The truth is most of the time you won't see these combos.

Re: TylerLantern's new Kitana Combo Videos

..... Are people here actually watching the streams?
http://www.justin.tv/teamsp00ky#/w/1147259776

The pro players are pulling off 35-50% combos in like 4/5 matches, especially those corner combos. Even the commentators are saying it's important in this game not to drop combos.

Kung Lao, Raiden, Reptile, Ermac, and Kabal are all using combos either directly from, or imspired by Check/ Tyler Lantern exhibition combos. ESPECIALLY CORNER COMBOS. That's because they are pretty easy to do.

And NO, breakers aren't a get out of jail free card against them, you have to use them carefully, because once you use it you lose 2 bars. just to escape.

So yeah, big combos are just as important as zoning and mixups in MK9. You should be studying and adapting exhibition combos, not ignoring them completely.
