NRS should revive this series Killer Instinct 3

*makes note to request a TRMK sleepover party at Pat's house just to play all his arcade games*

I wish I had more room. Only have one Grid and one multi-game MK2 cabinet setup. I'd have one of each MK & KI and six Grid if I had the room.

Dude stop tryin to argue and listen for a second.
Okay when Midway went Bankrupt they sold all their IP's to WB. That doesn't mean midway merged with them that means WB owns all their intellectual properties.
Now being smart businessmen they let Ed Boon keep his job and hire a new team to begin work on a new MK which is a "valuable" IP.
If WB went to Rare and said hey we would like to buy the rights to Killer Instinct and Rare said yes. They would no longer own any part of that property and would have no say in what happened to it henceforth.
But most companies would not spend money to buy Killer Instinct because it isn't a very valuable property. They could if Rare were willing to sell it. Which I'm sure they would. But no one in their right mind would see that as a good investment in this economy. Understand?

Oh okay thanks for clearing up the confusion. I always thought that WB just bought out Midway and just renamed the company.

I understand but It just something that I don't see happening. I could see perhaps maybe if RARE went bankrupt like Midway did but that will never happen and as we known Microsoft basically owns RARE. In this economy as it is right now buying the rights to Killer Instinct and making a new game for it wouldn't be good as it wouldn't get enough sales but however maybe a reboot would help that.

Unless, they make a new KI game, I will never buy a X-Box. I really don't care about Halo and Kinect. I was actually thinking of buying a Snes just for KI.

Close but not exactly right. WB only bought "some" of Midways IP many games were left to die with Midway or bought by other companies to help settle Midway's debt. Sadly not many people know the details of where what went where, even people who work for NRS aren't sure. Then WB re-hired most if not all the entire MK team and other important parts of Midway to be WB Games employees. Then they also hired new employees to flesh out the company (some of these are former employees that were laid off after MKvsDCU).

Only way NRS could make a MK game is if Rare/MS was to sell it to them. Also I don't think NRS NEEDS to make a new KI I say leave it to Rare. I'm sure they would do find if they actually worked hard on it and actually START the project.

Holy crap no. Whens the last time Rare made a truly great game?Viva Pinata???No id rather have Capcom do it then NRS.Its not gonna happen they're not even releasing the old ones on xbox arcade dumb bastards. Thankfully i got 1 and 2 for the SNES and N64.

But a new KI would probably be xbox exclusive, not bad for people with xbox, but it'd make me have to use my xbox again. and that doesn't make me a happy chappy

WB will never buy KI.

Realize that WB is a media company, it really has no interest in being in the video game business. The only reason it was interested in MK and formed NRS specifically to support it is because MK is a proven media powerhouse. MK9 was not created because WB cares about making a quality video game, or even cares about making a profitable one. It was created with the sole intention of reinvigorating interest in the MK franchise so that WB can try to capitalize on it in more profitable ways like movies, TV shows, etc.

I don't know what WB's thoughts are on MK9, if they think it has been popular enough to springboard a bunch of MK related media off the heels of the game. Hopefully it has at least been popular enough that they will greenlight a sequel.

Actually I don't think anything is wrong with Rare themselves. Either MS isn't ALLOWING them to do there job, or they're not pushing them to. The best games rare released for 360 is probably Kameo and PDZ. And of course MS forced them to rush it in time for launch not really having enough time to build them successfully off the 360 power(they were originally meant for GC). I love Kameo but even i know it could've been tons better if given the proper time. Other games they released is releasing Conker(original xbox) and Perfect Dark and Banjo tooie for xbl arcade, which were successful but again not completely new games. That gouly and Pinata game Idk wtf those are. I don't really understand what MS have them doing, either. But I wouldn't cross out that they can't make a good KI sequal if given the proper opportunity.

why cant a KI game be on another system? wasnt goldeneye on n64 a RARE game? they made a goldeneye game on wii i dont know but isnt that game still owned bye RARE? so why is that on wii? RARE needs to do what sega did and go multi system. then a KI game could be on any system.

WB probably will never have the opportunity to buy the KI brand because Microsoft owns it and they're well-known for buying such properties rather than selling them. The closest thing we'd see to such a thing would be NRS helping Rare develop a new KI, but I don't see that happening.

Generally speaking, games have to be good to sell, so it's definitely in their best interest to make a quality video game. I don't think it's much of a springboard for other products since the game has always been the primary money-maker. Fighting games translate especially poorly into movies.

With 3 million units sold, I'm pretty sure a sequel is inevitable, too.

Better revive War Gods 2...

lol id rather see a bio freaks 2 before a war gods 2. anyway, if we want to see another KI game or a sequel to any of the older RARE games, then microsoft has to sell RARE. but since microsoft is a bunch of money greedy b@st@rds, they won't. all they care about is if its a good business decision, like one you were saying. i dont know why they dont spend the $$$$ on makinga game like KI3, but they spend it on making like 20 different headsets and 20 different types of controllers and whatever. MS SELL RARE!!!
