Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Here's how the original Throne Room moves if anyone's interested, it's a 4MB .mov video file:

I started recording right and ended left of the invisible walls, so the stage looks much wider in this video than it's in the game. Also there's no Shang (to better see chair and gong layers) and the background is purple.

It looks like it's made of 6 different layers:
1.Background mountains and woods, 2. Red wall with windows, paintings, gong and a small part of floor, 3. A part of floor with dragons and chair, 4. A part of floor with gold-red pillars 5. Red carpet 6. Small piece of floor below the carpet not present in the video (must've turned it off by accident)

Background is fixed, everything else moves at different speeds.

This is for you Smoke.Tetsu :

Updated Palace Guard because everyone pretty much hated the old ones:

EDIT: These guys were added to their respective backgrounds and updated on Dropbox. Hooray for progress!

That's definite progress for sure! I like the new cloth robes! I miss the old katana handle for the sword though. That was something you did right with the older one you forgot to carry over.

About the speed of Sub-Zero's fatality.. perhaps we are all just not used to seeing the original spine rip in HD. There's been more than one expanded remake since then all adding in something. So we're seeing the original composition in a clearer light and asking ourselves... was it really like that?

Personally speaking I do think it could be slowed down a bit and perhaps add a quick tug or two to the neck before the head comes off or maybe just the latter (don't slow it down but add a quick tug or two to the neck).. but that's just me. Feel free to ignore that suggestion. :P

Hey Bleed, what do you think about giving the characters some slight body movements/loops during their winning pose, same with subzeros fatality as he's holding up the head? Sort of like they're breathing.

So that would add more frames of animation which means more memory. In 3D games the cost for looping breathing is minor but in 2D that is a whole new set of problems for each character.

I think Bleed explained few pages earlier, you can program last few frames in animation to loop - that would give him continued subtle body movement, so there's no need to add additional frames.

Nod, While technically possible it is one of those small details that we do not need to worry about just yet. Same with Blood and the animation speed of the fatality. We can have 100 different comments with differing opinions on what would be cool. Lets just worry about matching the original game first. We can and will loop back and fix or add little details after we have the game close to completion.

keep the same blood and speed of mk1 game, the first game with image and soundtrack was the main detail that the game looked more like a movie! : D

About the speed of the fatality; I watched a video of the original game to compare and it looks to be the same speed, with the exception of the start of the move. There really does seem to be a bit more time when the screen goes black before he moves in for the kill. Not much time but just a little more.

As for the actual move itself, it is moving at the same speed. I think it's just you have to realize you aren't looking at the digitized sprites you remember. They won't move 100% the same or look 100% the same as the original game. They are damn close but your brain just recognizes that something is different.

EDIT: Oh, and how is Liu Kang coming along? He looked ready to animate. Any chance of seeing him in action?

Awesome Goro statue... that's perfection right there! Can't wait to see him on the stage! I think that's one graphic you can truly call FINAL.

Yeah, that's what I was saying.... we're just not used to seeing the exact same fatality only this time rendered out with brand new graphics in HD.. so we're like.. wait a minute... is that right? The same thing happened to me to a degree with the walk cycle but I got used to that quicker.

Also we scrutinize this stuff more when it's sort of.. taken out of the context of us just playing the game and letting what happens happen.

Said it 2 times already on this thread but still just want to remind you, GREAT JOB GUYS I love what you're doing and I wish I could help but I can't so good job!
