1. sub zero - shotokan is a beast of a fighting style, his styles work well together, long combos, and effective but limited weapon
2. scorpion - hapkido just flows, lightning quick and comes to me very naturally now, never have to think about what im doing when i pick him, nice weapon too, above average specials
3. ashrah - devastating combos out of chou jaio, can mix it up, branches effortlessly from stance to stance, the kriss is some weapon too!
4. dairou - doesnt seem to have too many combos at first, but with some ridiculous juggle options one can easily conjure up 10+ it combos that end in style with autumn dao, this is a fascinating weapon , that has some really high damage combos (5 hit 41%). use his ground pound early and often and juggle off it, confuse the opponent with dairou
5. kobra - the kali sticks have blazing speed, prolly the best weapon out there. lots of decent combos in his other stances too, plenty of variation and plenty of specials too
6. li mei - love her specials, work very well together and with her stances too, throw a combo of two carnival spins, followed by a spinning heel kick and end with flying flurry. good balance between fighting styles and her weapon is suprisingly fast and rangy
7. raiden - has some absolutely ridiculous combos out of nan chuan, mix them up and come up with clever variations of each one, use the juggles to your benefit, also gotta love the specials and the staff
8. kabal - the key to playing with kabal is balance, switch between his styles often, can come up with some effective, high damage combos in each style. although not apparent at first kabal really has some good combos, mix it up. has one of the best weapons in the game with the hookswords
9. nightwolf - gotta love his high-low game out of tae kwon do, val tudo has some flash combos too, the tomahawks are a very capable weapon, instead of working with combos focus on suprising the opponent with his high-low game and juggle a lot. his specials are very effective and should be used a lot
10. shujinko - has some very fast and very effective combos out of mantis, good juggles and has a potentially amazing array of specials, weapon is fast but has no combos
11. sindel - fu jow pai has some really long combos that can be extended even more through her juggles, her kwan do is an amazing weapon with some high damage juggle combos, use the sliding foot grab a lot and her screamer special very little
12. kira - i like her options. she has many combos and juggle options to choose from and can suprise the opposition by mixing it up. the spinning ball special is very useful
13. bo rai cho - very high damage branch combos out of sumo, that one can even juggle off of. weapon has some good juggle combos as well. good mix of specials, hilarious fatalities
14. liu kang - his first fighting style has some potentially long combos (14 hit if you finish with the bicycle kick), it is fast enough to annoy your opponent with close range, sucker punches too. his second style kinda sux and doesnt seem to flow well at all. his weapon is below average, he has good specials and juggle options though
15. havik - can conjure up some good combos off his juggles that branch through all three styles, tang so doo is the most effective style though snake has some decent combos. his specials are very effective
16. jade - has some really long and really high damage combos that are very flamboyant as well, however, they dont seem to work quite as well in actual combat. decent specials and one of the best weapons in the game.
17. tanya - great weapon, it hits high and low and has a variety of juggle options and combos. her specials work well with her fighting styles too
18. mileena - not too many combos but great weapon and useful specials. man chuan is an effective fighting style with plenty of juggles
19. baraka - its all about the blades. has some very quick specials and good juggles of his blades, silat is a very dissapointing fighting style
20. kenshi - long but low damage combos, not much variation. tai chi is his best style. his weapon is quick but has no juggles. has some good specials
21. hotaru - very limited character, but if used wisely he can be effective through clever use of his specials and his juggles that branch through all styles. decent weapon
22. darrius - never a big fan of darrius, especially because he has no juggles and so one cannot innovate when it comes to combos. boring , 5 hit combos are all he has to offer. has a decent weapon and two slides (one high and one low ) that can be used in sequence to confuse the opponent. just not my kind of player
23. noob-smoke - can never understand why they couldnt have been two seperate characters. im a combo person and this duo has nothing to offer in that department. its all about continuously overwhelming the oppositions with your special moves and i am not a big fan of that. not challenging or exciting
24. ermac - i have always maintained that all mk characters can be moreorless equally good if their potential is tapped to the fullest. sadly that is not the case with ermac. he plain sucks. his specials are decent in that one can juggle of them and integrate them with his moves, but all three of his fighting styles are mediocre at best and don't seem to come out right at all. his weapon looks imposing but is average.
