How to deal with Raiden teleport..

Online that is. I mean not that I really have that hard of a time w/Raiden but people that spam that move annoy me. To the point where even when I predict it (which usually isn't hard) I can't punish :/. Autocorrect seems to always screw me... even with moves that *should be guaranteed such as Jax rush punch, I start the motion one direction nothing comes out or comes out too late.

Its like everytime they use it I'm forced to jump or eat chip. Even semi-reliable methods would be appreciated...

Try to punish Raiden's teleport on reaction, is the same as trying to punish Smoke teleport the same, almost impossible, the damn move is too fast !

you need to try foresee when a Raiden player wil abuse his teleport, normally, happens more when Raiden player keeps mid screen/full screen distance from you, and, having health meter advantage over you, the player waits for your first move, to, teleport and punish you next ....

You can try to deal/handle this :

- jump punch crossup everytime you perceives the teleport will happen, you let Raiden teleport, jump over him on the other side, with jump punch

- Backdash and press block ASAP, this way, you build minimum distance to avoid an automatic closer throw, and, defending against Raiden Back 3,1,2

- Bait him to do it, and, once he does, catch him with a good special move that hits low, Mileena's Ball Roll for example

1. Don't play online.
2. Train your reaction.

Raiden's teleport has around 12 true frames of vulnerability. Even if it's hard to constantly punish on the first frame, anything 12 frames or under should technically be able to punish it.

Everytime Raiden teleports and you're not in the middle of something you get a free D1, uppercut, blockstring or throw attempt.

But good Raidens don't teleport randomly, they teleport when you're about to jump punch or attack them. So you can't respond.

Raiden's teleport has 10 start up frames of being invulnerable then he "is on the other side". He then has 16 recovery frames.

Releasing block from a neutral block loop is 0 frames before you can attack (it will add 1 frame to your startup in almost all cases). If you are in a block hit reaction it is dependent on the attack that you blocked.

Attacking behind you adds 4 start up frames.

Some info concerning Raiden's teleport:

- During a teleport, it takes Raiden 11 frames to disappear. He's completely gone for 2 frames, and reappears on the other side on the 14th frame.
- I was able to Superman as early as 26 frames, and use a normal attack as early as 29 frames.
- For the opponent, when I started an attack 11 frames into the teleport, I attacked the wrong way. When I started an attack 17 frames into the teleport, I attacked facing Raiden.

More testing is required when I have more time, but I'm assuming the teleport ends at 26 frames. I'm also going to assume that you can attack as soon as Raiden appears on the other side (14th frame of the teleport), to begin your punishment. Now the closest I could get to this was attacking on the 17th frame, but hopefully I can narrow that down with more testing.

If we assume Raiden cannot attack until the 26th frame of the teleport, and you can attack on the 14th frame, that gives you 12 frames to attack before Raiden can do anything. Of course, that requires extremely precise timing, but that's what frame data is for.

Cool thanks for the input, yea I guess I should just stop trying to punish the initial port online..so hard because judging by the amount of time I see him "freeze" when he reaapears I KNOW I can get off something! But alas..input lag. Im pretty sure out of all useful tactics in this game, neutral jump punch is the one I use the least...guess I need to practice w/that.

Try using someone with a fast special (reptile shoulder, kung lao spin, or even nightwolfs shoulder charge will work and its nice because you can buffer the back button to set up a quick shoulder)

Online you pull these off quite easily and it will discourage the raiden user from spamming teleport if he's eating those specials every time

Meh, I just used Baraka's Spin of DOOOOOOM! (DB3), and most raidens eat it every single time they teleport.

I'm not sure if I'm good at guessing it, good at reacting to it, or just that fast inputing it, so YMMV.

that teleport needs to be toned down. way 2 fast and good raidens; its almost impossible to hit them. i think jumping when it happens is better. you might get hit but at least you wont get stuck in a combo if you miss the uppercut or try to time a combo

I find jumping to my only recourse, but like others say, it depends on what character you are using.

Raiden is what I call a "chore" to beat, because many players spam teleport like there is no tomorrow and it's just a game of trying to slowly wear him down.

If the teleport appeared nearer you (like Cyraxes) you'd have more options like uppercut on reaction. Right now I think it appears just outside of sweep range behind you, which I think is the main issue coupled with auto-correct.

I don't think its the speed, its the range of it that irritates me.

NJP FTW 4 that teleport, I know... when I'm using Rayden I use teleport a lot followed by grab or 3 3 4 and the only things my friends/foes can do about it is use an extremely fast wake up like Mileena's roll, Reptile's dash, Nightwolf's shoulder etc or... a well timed NJP and that one works like a charm for them or me when I'm fighting against Ray.
