Yo that last part was so ****ed up! Yeah I kan take comedy in a game but not freaking friendships and babalties and I really don't mind that other shit either kause they are challenges. But those finishers, that is just too much right there. And about the gobble part, Liu Kang does that kause making that noise makes the hits much harder. I guess a lot of people don't understand that.
And when I say serious, I don't mean it like that(I always loved the MK jokes but not the finishers). I just want Mortal Kombat not to have those dumb finishers, I don't mind the other shit tho. Do you understand what I am trying to say?
EDIT: You know what dude, that last part got to me man. I guess I am going to learn to like them since you think that bekause I don't want anyone to think that about me. I guess I should start out by saying Kung Lao's Friendship is my favorite and Sheeva's Babailty is the funniest.
@Black Cybrog, either way I will see it when people use it on me online or offline. Kan't run away from it.
I'm glad you have changed your opinion on Friendships and whatnot being a part of the game.
One of the most annoying things to hear from an MK fan is "That's silly, it doesn't belong in MK. Only dark and serious stuff please!". The game has never been just about being dark and serious. When I say never, I mean never. So for someone to love MK, and to hate the humor elements and think they have no place in MK, it just baffles me. I have to wonder what MK game they played and fell in love with, because MK has always had humor in it to some degree.
MK1 = This is probably the MK with the least amount of humor, but it was still present. Johnny Cage as a character for example, and his use of the nut punch, was a comical aspect.
MK2(Regarded as the darkest themed MK) = Friendships, Babalities, Johnny Cage, Toasty!
MK3/UMK3 = Friendships, Babalities, Animalities(Monkey, Penguin etc.), Shao Kahn's insults, Toasty!
MK4 = Johnny Cage, gibberish characters speak while fighting
MK

A = Bo Rai Cho, Johnny Cage, Mokap, items in the Krypt such as "Cooking with Scorpion", Quan's fatality
...it just goes on and on
I can agree that some humor is too much or doesn't fit, such as Bo Rai Cho for example, because he caters to pure immaturity which happens during the fight that takes away from the tone, rather than offer anything funny. However, when done right, as in the case with Friendships and even Babalities to a smaller degree, it is a decent step away from all the blood and violence, and is just good for a laugh here and there.
This game is the darkest most brutal MK game to date, yet Friendships and Babalities would not take away from that. They are after the battle, they are optional, and they are funny. At least it's humor that is done well in most cases. Babalities make zero sense, but something about turning your opponent into a baby with a baby cry sound effect, is just hilarious. The Friendships are just goofy, cheesy humor, but are fun natured. Your opponent is expecting you to rip their heart out, cut them in half, or decapitate them...and instead you chew a piece of gum, blow a bubble, and it pops in your face. That's just funny. It's why it's called comic relief, because with all the high tension of the fight, and the dark and serious tones, the humor is supposed to offer a cool down. I'd appreciate a Friendship, over a 3rd or 4th fatality, it's a nice way to mix things up and instill some variety. That's just my opinion.
If people don't like the humor and don't want it in the game, that's fine. That's your choice. I just question why anyone thinks humor doesn't belong in MK, or thinks it ruins the game. If MK2 and UMK3 are so popular, I think it'll be just fine regardless.
