MK9 to have online pass?

Doesn't matter much to me because I will be buying the game new. The only thing that really makes me mad is that GameStop can get away with screwing the developers out of money like that. I hate GameStops shady business practices.

The only thing that bothers me about this is, what if my 360 craps out on me (again)

I get a refurb system, I'll have to shell out $10 just to hop back online

i better not have 2 pay 4 no damn online, i have PS3 & sony SWORE with their lives that PSN online will be FREE so this better not be true or imma get really b!tchy.....

What happens if I buy the game at a local video game store?

Depends if you buy it new or used. If you buy it new you get the online free no matter where you buy it but if it is used then it will cost ten dollars to play online. They are just trying to make new the cheaper option. Gamestop sells used games for $54 when they cost $59 new so if you want to play online it would be cheaper new that is all it is about. Now if you find it $15 cheap used then it would be cheaper to buy it used and buy the online code and NRS would at least get that $10 where as before they would get nothing. They would not only not get the money from the sell but it also that's away from the sells numbers because they can't tell how many used copies have been sold but this why they can.

Aha! This also discourages boosting online =)

Loving it. Loving it. Loving it.
Also gives a big slap to the face to Gamestops and they're making money off developers games to a CRAZY extent. You sell them a game for 20 bucks and they sell it to someone else for 50. It's robbery.

WTF are people whining about. This hurts no one but Lamestop who has the balls to charge $55 for a "new" used game. Real fans will buy it new and there is no added charge to them. Anyone who buys it used will most likely get it for $50 or less (unless they are a moron and buy it at GS) so the absolute most they will have to pay is the same retail the rest of us paid to get it new. Who cares,

This is just trying to keep Gamestop from screwing them. Nothing use. They are not trying to screw us over but Gamestop and others have been screw us and them over for years. They give us a $15 store credit and turn around and sell it for $54 thus NRS don't get paid either.

Hey dude, no need to call anyone morons. I know you said it in general but, yeah, people aren't morons just because of where they get their games.

~Thanks =)

I do have to say that I find it ridiculous that they charge over $50 for used games. I took a look the other day and was blown away that games that have been out for MONTHS still sold at that price USED.

Are you serious? If GS is selling a used copy for $55 and that person buys it and has to follow it up with another $10 to play online when they could have had a brand NEW copy and online for LESS money, well, they are the definition of a moron. But I sincerely apologize for offending any geniuses that plan to do this in the future.

PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION:

No matter where you buy it if it is new then you get the online code free and if it is used you don't have to pay a one time fee of ten dollars.

I don't mind as much since I am buying it as a new copy, the only problem with the online pass's is when people try out the game (online) and when people buy used copies.

Happened to me with EA when I bought a used copy of NHL 11, I wasn't aware of the online pass till I got to the counter, and he said it requires an online pass to play NHL 11, he told me there was an online pass in there but was unaware if it worked, so I took my chances and went home entered the code and got lucky... Thats the only thing I hate about the used code, is when you TRY to save money, you kinda get screwed on the 'Online' part of the game.

Hopefully it won't be an issue that badly D;

Wow, people dont know what an online pass is by now :S?

This is all you need to know: BUY THE GAME NEW AND YOULL BE FINE!!!

The majority of companies dont do this and many people would rather buy games used because its cheaper. This is the issue.

Yes and companies make nothing from used sales so it makes sense they want to protect their profits. If you wish to play online just buy it new it's that simple.

Thank you, thats what I was trying to get at without people asking questions.

Its beneficial, it makes you think twice about feeding into Gamestop's hands with their unjustifiable prices on used games.

Greedy bastards. I hope they think about the people getting ylod and maybe need to reactivate the online pass on another machine. If you can only use it one time then it's ridiculous of WB. And they should know people borrow games from eachother, and of course they dont want to pay extra just to play online. Let's not hope every other company follows on the same path.
