Tips and Tactics for Kabal

Hey guys, I'm trying to get my Kabal skills up to par and I could use some tips.

1.) What's a good way to get past a duck-blocking opponent? Does Kabal have any moves that break block? I try to get in his overhead hooksword special, but I always get sweep kicked before I can hit.

2.) Tactics for fighting a character that keeps me at a distance? Nomad Dash usually ends in me being stunned and getting uppercutted or stuck in a combo. His range moves I also try to use, but generally get blocked.

That's all for right now. Any help is greatly appreciated!

For both of your questions, To damage those duck/blockers, I just try to do a spinning blade (b,b,3) and the other laser projectile (b,b,1). I just try to mix those up to get the oppenent to change his block or position. Then your free to combo or dash or whatever.

You can block both the laser and the blade with a duck block, so they have no reason for them to move.

I don't know about any blockbreakingmoves. But the only overhead kabal has is the tornado slam.

So if the enemy is ducking go for fp fp t-slam. if hes standing go for fp fp b+bk b f bk. u shouldn't have that many problems following these. ;)

as an answer to question 2, his nomad dash can be cancelled by holding (block + back) after he's started. it means if you start the dash from the complete opposite side of the screen, by the time you cancel he'll be standing right next to the opponent. your opponent will expect you to bounce off their block and be stunned but you wont be, so as soon as you stop you could go straight into a sweep or uppercut or something. you may need to go into practice mode to try it but once you get the hang of it its a great tool to have

Haven't sat down with Kabal yet. Sry But I personally would only hook sword throw at the end of a landed combo. Jus sayin..

@MrSky74: Very helpful. I didn't know how to cancel it, but I've done it on accident a couple times. Sounds very useful.

@cyke_out: I knew it went through projectiles, but I didn't know about the armor. Useful tip, but it doesn't really solve the duck-blocking problem lol.

@PS3Scrawny: Generally that's what I do, but his overhead swing doesn't hit midair, so its kind of hard to work into combos when you pop them up. Unless you're talking about the ground blade? It actually has pretty quick recover time, so it's nt as punishable as the gas blast is.

@rinc-e: I'll keep those in mind. Does the FP hit mid or high? I thought it would miss a ducking opponent.

Kabal is my main :) I usually deal with duck-blockers with: Forward+A, Y, Tornado Slam. Works everytime :D.
For your other question, when my opponent is far, my best weapon is the spinning blade. They usually don't expect a low projectile thrown at them, and certainly not that fast ;).

Hope that helps :) BTW, KABAL ftw :)

All I'm going to say is that his Back + 1, 2, 1 launcher is extremely useful for comboing if you can land it.

You can also catch opponents when they are falling with Forward + 3, 2 and generally finish it with a Tornado Slam.

Kabal can set up easy 50/50's between mixing saw blade and tornado throw, just apply pressure use one of those to break your opponent's defenses.
