Fatalities help

I just got Mortal Kombat: Deception for my PS2 and have played it for numerous hours now. I'm able to get all the combos down with ease and button pressing isn't that hard to do. It's just that I'm frustrated because I haven't been able to perform a single fatality in my days playing the game. I have only tried the fatalities that require "close" range because I figure that's the easiest distance to perform fatalities at and since I haven't been able to do one there, I don't see any chance in me performing one at the other two distances. I'm able to switch modes to fatality mode and I'm right next to my opponent but I can't get the fatalities to work no matter how slow, fast, clear, concise, however I push the buttons. Please offer me some help and do worry about being condescending because I'll take any advice at this point.
 
After the game says finish him press the button to change fighting styles and it should say fatality as your fightng stance. Then use the info that Masta-Dante posted and enter the fatality.
 
As for speed, fairly quick for all of them. It helps to practice with a friend in verus.
 
Its easy really theres 3 ranges 4 a fatalaty:close sweep and far
each character has 2 fatalaties and 1 hara kiri(suicide)
if tou wanna know the fatalaties for the characters then go 2 trmk.org
when you are in the main menu then try to look for MKD strategy guide
when you click on it then look for kombatants and click on it
then you will see a selections characters and click on 1 of them to see the fatalaties
 
you must change your fighter to the Fatality mode. when he's in that mode he can't move. in MKDA, sometimes when i put the characers in the Fatality mode and he moves i can't do the fatality..
try to do Scorpion's Fatality forward, back, forward, back, Square, at Close range, its easy!
for Shujinko's you must buy them in the krypt! (see in the guide)

Ok, I finally got it. Thank you all for your help. It turned out just to be a speed problem. I figured that as long as I put the buttons in the right order before time ran out I'd be ok but it definately has to be quick. Thank you for your help everyone.

Because I wanted him to see your name so he would know who else to listen to.
