Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

This goes back to the whole accuracy to the original vs.what we as fans think the original intent was. I'm not leaning one way or the other. Bleed this works perfectly for me, I can do a version with the white eyes at a later time. Let's call this finished. Can you upload Scorps in his win pose for me sometime soon?

I'm dieing to work on his statue.


Hey Bleed, I'm not against 720, I was just saying Jarvis had some problems with it.
I believe he had done Character select screen again in 720 but it looked better when
upscaled than his previous 720 one. Not entirely sure what was the problem first time
he made it, maybe textures or something looked blurry when upscaled.
I'd hate to see something like that happening to your work because it looks awesome,
and I'm not sure how 720 game will look on a 1080 monitor (which are more-less
a standard nowdays) I'm sure there are people on these boards that know this kind
of technical stuff better than me.

As for Scorpion, this looks absolutely amazing! I think you nailed it right on the head
with lighting and everything.

One detail I'd like to change is his eyes.

I know he had them in original MK, but ever since then we've got used to seeing him
with white eyes so much, that it looks strange now that he has them. It became one
of those things closely associated with his character.
Just like Raiden is a God, has a hat, and shoots lightning - Scorpion is a ninja, throws spear
and doesn't have eyes lol. It's kinda one of his signatures. I guess this is nitpicking, but just
my 2 cents. I'd definitely like to see his Select screen pic with white eyes.
 
This one is for 1080 screen height, and I'm going to leave it as is. The pic is in drop box without the border.

I got the white light with post editing in Photoshop.

> Render an extra image with one strong light.

> Make the render gray scale in Photoshop and mix it with the normal one using the screen layer style.

hhahaha all this stuff is looking better and grittier then the new mk game, will nrs ever make a new mk game that is dark an gritty? every think they have done since mk3 is cartoony shit they should hire the people doing this to make the new mk get it back to ist serious dark tone, not this comical shit they do now...
 
I know I don't have much say, but I'm also in the "purist" camp for having Scorpion have the human eyes... didn't really go white and stay white until MKII.

Actualy i think la_luna's option is good, as i said, in mk1 scorpion is already a spectre that has been resurrected by quan chi so...so white eyes is kinda a fix for this "hd remix with mugen"
Scorpion died in MKM and then he god ressurected in the same game

This week I have time to work on the project again. Is not all the time i wish but at least is better than nothing
 
Great to hear that! If you look in the MK1HD folder and then look in the UI screens sub folder you'll see that Jarvis and I have now completed every screen you should be need to reproduce the intro/attract screens perfectly. Please let me know if you don't see it.

-Jarvis finished VS Screen

-Jarvis also completed the Longest Winning Streak.

-Jarvis also mastered all the screens so that it is properly up-scaled for 1080P view.

-I created the "Midway Presents" "Goro image"(Thanks Gojira!) and "Goro Lives screens as well". \

-I would love for you to being implementing these new screens into the next build.

As for the music and sounds fx. I haven't seen Justin Slaughter around for months. Also Jarvis is pretty busy with life (I've been annoying him about finishing the UI screens for a few weeks now.) So I think we should just assume that we'll use the original music/SFX in their current form until we can loop back later and replace them.

-I've got all Raidens teleport, electricity and projectiles complete.

-I've finished Subzero's projectile.

-Bleed did Scorps projectile.

So I'll finished Lui Kangs fireball (Thanks laluna for the gifs!) and Cage projectile (again thanks laluna) while I complete work on the

warriors shrine. Of course some statues will not be able to get finished until the characters are complete which I know Bleed is working on pretty much by himself right now since Gojira hasn't posted here in about 2.5 weeks.

My goal is to finish all the background stages by the end of this month though I'm not 100% sure if Badmouse will have Goro's Lair ready by then.

Jarvis is working away on the final scaled UI for you Interloko. This will be huge to start getting these assets into the game with working power bars, win and scoring systems.

calactyte, im finishing up a freelance work (4 characters with rig) on this week so i think i will be able to work and finish Goro Lair this Month.

BTW, what is the actual status of Goro? i remember that he looks pretty amazing so i don't remember if someone else request a modification of it.

If not we can use the sculpt to pose him and render for the WS statue.

I was just speaking with Jarvis about this and his face may need a bit of modification to look closer to the original.

I like goro, i just dont want him to be a robot like in mk1...its strange, but good in someways...when it was released, it was perfect for me...in that time i was used to play in arcades...good memories, good memories...
After this i know that somebody crazy enought will make an arcade just to play this HD remix, just wait and see hehehehe
 
I don't know about trying now, but later this year I could have a stronger portfolio to work with. Not as a lead modeler or animator
though. I've never worked in a game company before, so maybe doing props or something low level like that.


Anyway, I've been messing with the UMK3 model for the past two days. Re working the High poly mesh, to withstand a close up, because I'd like to try an FMV eventually.

I keep going back to fix things with what I've learned, because the models keep getting better and that's my goal, to improve.

With that hopefully this time, I can show NRS something worth while.

I'm roughing out the topology right now, but not for the whole day. I'll hit this for another hour or so and get to work on the Statue for MK1.
