MK Australia Banning Discussion

Yep, I used pcgamesupply.com as well for buying prepaid cards and such. I've used them many times, and you always get your code within 15 - 30 minutes. I even buy the cards for xbox live gold for my main account from there, cos its significantly cheaper than paying Australian prices.
 
Warren... YOUR Awesome! I managed to snag the UK 1200 Points from pcgamesupply.com

However I did have to generate a new UK account for some reason though as my old one would not accept the code... guess MS locked it or something along those lines... ahhh well... no big loss.

Thanks for the tip poptdp with the way to download everything as well... did that and had no issues whatsoever with anything... Can wait for the next group of DLC now :)

Apart from that Scarlet is now downloaded fine and is rocking my world at this moment!

i totally agree it's f^#ked!!!!! I'm 30 and I wish to purchase this game..Australian has become a nanny state.

Can't exactly do much by complaining now.If you want MK, you're going to have to buy it online.

Speaking of which, how is the R18+ thing going? I haven't heard any news on it in a while.
 
MK is a great family game. Anyone can play and be competitive, use x-rays, breakers, do combos.

Austria is stupid for banning this game.

Still no verdict it would seem... Hopefully my PS3 copy will arrive as smoothly as the 360 version did.
 
How to set up an Australian MK9 with a import copy?

Hi there

I'm a Aussie and as you no doubt know MK9 was banned in Australia. Anyway, I just got my copy from PlayAsia and want to get it working but a bit confused as to how to do this.... Tell me if this is wrong?

1) I need to make a new PSN account and set the region to NEW ZEALAND as the game is not banned there.... I can now access the PSN store.
2) I then use the MK activation code on my regular psn accoutn that is region locked to Australia... but teh downloaded DLC works fine.
3) I then can play online and have DLC

Is that correct or do I use the MK9 activation code on the New Zealand psn account?

Just to follow up it arrived fine. Aussies don't be afraid to get this game from overseas. It will arrive.

1) Yep, just make another account from a region where the game isn't banned.
2) I used the Kombat Pass activation on the new, overseas account. You will now be able to play online on your Aussie account if it's on the same machine.
3) Yep and once again, once you use your overseas account to get the DLC, it will also be available on your regular account.
 
Anyone having trouble going online after the latest patch? It would get as far as connecting to lobby then would always give me a message about checking my router or internet connection. Problem is though, I am still connected to PSN and all my other games work.
 
And this is right after the supposed desynch fix patch too. Lol I hope NRS solution to fixing the connection for Aussies isnt to just lock us all out.
 
The latest patch is killing me a lot as well. I still get games maybe 50% of the time in the "Australia" and "Aussie" rooms on the American server, but I cannot do ranked at all anymore. Doesn't help when Americans go in the Australian rooms either.
 
Definitive Instructions for Getting The Game Working for Australian PS3 Owners

As a new player I found that it was hard to know what to do to get this game working online and have access to the DLC. I know there is this thread but it is like 47 Pages long.... I am going to write a quick guide on how I got everything working... and I hope a mod will edit the 1st post of this thread and place it there, so others can find the information easily... cause at the moment it isn't. I would make a new thread but I expect it would be merged into this one anyway.....


How to Get MK9 on a Australian PS3 and have working DLC and Multiplayer

  1. Buy a import version of the Game. I got a game from a Hong Kong ebay store that I trust. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE REGION OF THE GAME VERSION YOU BUY

  2. On your Ps3, start a new user, and then sign up to the PlayStation Network. If you need a email, remember gmail or hotmail or the other billion free email services.

  3. When selecting your Region in the PlayStation Sign up, use the SAME region as the game you purchased. In my case Hong Kong. (PS - Hong Kong still defaults to English Language)

  4. When asked for a street address, the best way to do this is to look up a hotel and find its public snail mail address. This is what I did and will give you valid post codes, cities and provences.

  5. Ok you done.... Now you can access the Store. 1st thing 1st... Download the 2 free compatibility mods... now you can play.

  6. In the PlayStation3 interface, go to "Accounts Management" and Select "Redeem Codes" Enter your code and now online should be activated. This code will not activate unless you are signed into the correct region.

  7. This is Optional but I think it is a good idea.... Go to the store and select all the Paid DLC and purchase it. If you have set up the account to the wrong region for your game you will not be able to complete the transaction. AU PSN cards will not work on the Hong Kong store, I used my internet credit card for this as I couldn't find anyway to buy a Hong Kong psn code.
    • You can buy UK, and US and Jap psn cards from PCGamesSupply.com If you have a game from that same region... remember DLC is region locked, so you can NOT buy US DLC on a UK psn account....
    Anyway Credit card worked fine for me.

  8. Sign out and sign in on your normal account....

  9. Play the game, have access to DLC, and Online Multiplayer.

This is what I did and it worked fine... I played a few test online matches and was pleasantly surprised that there was hardly any lag at all, and pages for green "good" ping players to choose from.

What I Would do Differently if I know what I know now.

Multiplayer seamed perfectly fine. I had pages of full green players to pick form and did 3 test games. The game seamed responsive and I went into high level room, not the beginning area and saw my opponent do complex string combos. I got crushed but it showed me that the game multiplayer was fine.

I am not sure if this is because Hong Kong is so close to Australia... but maybe that makes a difference I ma not sure.. if it dose.. I would recommend using a New Zealand copy of the game, as it is so close to Au. A good online NZ game store I have used b4 is http://www.mightyape.co.nz/

All the other steps should be the same.

I'm now convinced the online is now actually worse (at least for me). I can finally get into the lobby but it takes a few tries. The "check internet connection" message pops up sometimes which leads me to get kicked out to the main menu, which never happened until recently.

Now, when I get in I create an Australian room to ensure I get the best connection. One player joins and challenges me, I accept and the "connecting" thing appears and would stay there for seemingly forever. I can't cancel or do anything except exit my game. I tried the same thing again with another player popping up but same stuff happens.

I was however able to get some quick ranked matches going but still experience connection losts. Anyone else having the same problems? Playing with Aussies used to run so smoothly :(

I've never had a Ranked Match connect at all. It's terrible since this recent patch, I basically can't play. I'm able to connect with a couple of people in the Australia room every now and then but it is time consuming and frustrating. Especially when I finally do get a game and my opponent picks Scorpion, at least i know what's up but I'm not going to want a rematch.
